Sarah Glassman

Sarah and Evelyn met at a show last March where Sarah saw Evelyn perfoming the B-52’s Rock Lobster. Since then Evelyn and Sarah have formed a mutual admiration and “Let’s do it!” society. Evelyn has appeared in several HiGlass shows, and Sarah was cast as the lead when Evelyn staged an abridged version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Once More with Feeling. What magic forces drew them together? Perhaps their shared love of the rock band Heart? Regardless, both are thrilled to come together to empower fellow artists over the course of this workshop.

Evelyn “Ev” Sullivan is an actor, singer, writer, producer, director, and ukuleleist in the NYC indie theater & cabaret scene. She founded Figment Theatre in 2008 in order to produce new works with a nerdy aesthetic and extended into cabaret in 2011. Key works include Robot Uprising, Barbarian!, The Last Temptation of Keiko, Paper Dolls, and Radon Daughters. She has also performed with the Operating Theater Company (Transatlantica, Van Driver) and the Lion Pinball Players (Cocktails at the Centre of the Earth, Strange Tales of Preston Stagger, World War Bee).

She is a core member of NY’s long-running variety show Groovin’ On A Sunday, and the creator/co-host of Ukulele Island. She performed her show, In the Dark, as part of 53 Above’s Featured Artist series (Winter/Spring 2019). Evelyn simply loves all of the performing arts.  She has instructed children and adults alike.

Her mission in life is to spread joy through creative expression.

Most recently, she won the 2019 MAC award for Best Duo with her partner, Jason Ellis.

Sarah Glassman is an actor, singer, songwriter, teacher, and pianist, whose work has enabled her to become one of the most versatile artists in NYC. Originally from Western Kansas, Sarah began playing piano before she could read a book. Considered a child prodigy, she quickly advanced to studying classical piano at the collegiate level under professor John Huber. She went on to receive a B.A. in classical voice from Fort Hays State University under Juilliard Grad, Dr. James Brown. Since arriving in NY she has been working regularly as a vocal coach, musical director, and performer.

In 2015, Sarah formed the Sarah Glassman Band, and released her debut EP Toxic, she released her holiday single “Christmas Eve (Love Under the Tree this past December 2018. All of Sarah’s music can be found on ITunes and Spotify.

As a performer, Sarah regularly performs in NYC piano bars. You may find Sarah at Uncle Charlie’s Piano lounge on Sunday nights. She also consistently works with established songwriter and musical composer Sammy Bravo and regularly collaborates with indie singer/songwriter Anna Volpe.

Sarah most recently founded HiGlass Productions with her colleague, seasoned performer Ryan Hiers in 2017. It’s within her production company that Sarah spawned the Nasty Women Cabaret series, which has provided a platform for people to experiment with new material in a safe, inspiring environment. Sarah is also co-writing an original musical with Hiers which is going to be workshopped in the spring 2019.
